What is MetaDoc and how is it used?

What is the Novus MetaDoc service and how is it leveraged by various products? Also, any tips on how to use the MetaDoc interface in Easel?

Generally MetaDoc refers to the Novus service that in simple terms is a storage/retrieval mechanism for key/value pairs. It's the primary driver behind the faceting feature on WestlawNext. Info here

Occasionally (especially in the publishing realm), MetaDoc is used to refer to a system that publishing pathways loading documents to Novus contact during their work. This system generates an XML payload that can be loaded to the above mentioned Novus MetaDoc Service. Details on contacting that system. Anyone have a better link? This publishing system has content type specific rules, and has the knowledge of what XML elements to mine to generate appropriate key/value pairs for faceting.
