Does Cobalt have a Date format javascript function?

I need to take a javascript Date object and get it formatted in dd/mm/yyyy format.
Does Cobalt currently have a javascript function/widget I can use for this?

Yes, as I told Pat, we pulled in an old cut of the Datejs library (http://www.datejs.com) about 2 years ago that Search utilizes. You can currently find it in the "site/js/v1/External/datejs" folder.

If it meets your needs, we can update it to the latest version. If it doesn't meet your needs, or if another library better suits your needs [such as the one Ryan referenced from Flagrant Badassery (http://blog.stevenlevithan.com/archives/date-time-format )], we can look at adding it or possibly replacing Datejs with it.

Looks like no. Maybe it would be a good thing to add. Something like:


Cobalt.Date.Format = function (date, pattern) {

	var formatted;

	switch(pattern) {
		case "dd/mm/yyyy": 
			formatted = (date.getMonth() + 1) + "/" + date.getDate() + "/" + date.getFullYear();
			break;
		// Other people put cases here
		default:
			break;
	};

	return formatted;
};

Cobalt.Date.js doesn't have any such function.

I don't see anything either. It might be a good thing to add to the class and wouldn't take too much work.

Thanks, Josh. I'll submit this request for platform and just steal the code snippet above and put it in our product until/if platform implements it.
