Can client use TLS to connect to RTO?

Team,

Client is asking if they can connect to RTO via TLS. They are connect to RTO via TCP currently.

There is a requirement from client network team to use TLS connection to RTO.

Is there any documentation and setting up guide for client to switch the connection from TCP to TLS and if there are any test / uses cases for them to test using TLS.

Thanks.
David

@David Tan

As I know, TLS provides a secure layer on top of TCP/IP so it still uses TCP/IP.

Referring to Refinitiv Real-Time - Optimized Install and Config Guide, Refinitiv Real-time supports TLS 1.2 or later only.

Therefore, it is requried to use TLS when connecting to RTO.

@Jirapongse Client is asking if there is plan for TLC to be supported directly on RTO.

@David Tan

Do you mean TLS?

If yes, RTO currently supports TLS.

@Jirapongse Apologies for not clear - I mean is the streaming service (endpoint) supported on TLS - meaning connecting use TLS instead of TCP.

@David Tan

Yes, RTO supports TLS (Transport Layer Security) and the client needs to use TLS to connect to RTO.

Hello @David Tan

I am not a network expert, but based on my research the TCP is a transport layer of TLS.

The "transport": "tcp" endpoint information means RTO uses the "TCP" as a transport protocol. The application needs TLS (which RTO already supports) to connect to this TCP connection.

@wasin.w noted. This definitely helps.
