How can I change a CMDB value?
mark.maruska
I see a CMDB value that needs to be updated, so how do I change it?
And, is the CMDB change done per environment or does the CMDB change start in CI/DEMO and propagate up the environments like code releases?

CM is responsible for actually making change to CMDB. You ask them to do this by creating a work item in TFS. Under the "TFS Central" team project (you may have to add this in TFS to see it), there is a work item type called "CMDB Request". There are a bunch of required fields. There is a separate spot for each environment (ci, demo, qed, hot prod, prod,) including whether or not it needs to be added to the shared environment as well.
Once you save this work item, CM should pick it up. They typically get it done within an hour for CI, but don't necessarily notify you when it's complete. You'll have to kick off a deploy of your application to have it pick up the latest change to CMDB.

CM has a dedicated person each iteration watching the CMDB change requests and making the necessary changes in all CI and Demo environments. The changes are made within 2 hours of the CR creation time. If the change needs a cache bounce etc, CM will contact the team and work with them to take care of it. For all other CMDB changes, we let the next CI build take care of it. If you see a need to change that, please let us know. Any feedback on the process is welcome.
