What is CsLoc and how is it used?
Andrew Gerber
What is Novus CsLoc and how is it used by various products in Thomson Reuters? Also, I noticed you can make CsLoc calls in Easel, how is this done?

CsLoc stands for Collection Set Locator.
CsLoc was designed to meet the following business requirements:
1. The ability to determine if the specified GUIDs (documents) belong to any of the specified collection sets
2. The ability to determine all Collection Sets to which a document belongs
3. The ability to determine Collection to which a document belongs
The CsLoc service uses the date and view information in the DOC content to decide if a GUID belongs to a collection set. There is no need for a separate element to identify CsLoc data in the load file. Elements and their values are derived out of the document’s content using the view and date restrictions. In order to take advantage of the CsLoc service, the collection must have a CsLoc update process. Each collection may belong to only one CsLoc Domain. A CsLoc domain, though, may contain many collections.
CsLoc has a load component (part of the Novus load service) and a retrieval component (CsLoc Service). The CsLoc load component provides the ability to load CsLoc data into the CsLoc Domain. CsLoc retrieval component provides a set of APIs to determine if a set of documents belongs to any of the given collection set(s).
The CsLoc currently supports DOC collections that use English content. CsLoc may work for both Images and non-English content. Testing of these use cases with appropriate content is strongly recommended.

----------
A common use for CsLoc is for billing purposes. For example, a customer views several documents using a Thomson Reuters product. CsLoc can be used to determine what types of content sets these documents belonged to in order to accurately bill the customer.
