How to Retrieve Historical ESG Ratings for M&A Target Companies in Refinitiv Eikon?

Hi all,

I'm a student at the University of Amsterdam currently working on my thesis. I'm researching M&A deals and trying to gather historical ESG ratings for the target companies involved.

I used DSCREENER in Refinitiv Eikon to identify relevant M&A deals from the past few years. However, I wasn't able to filter or retrieve ESG ratings as of the deal date — only the most recent ESG data seems available.

Has anyone figured out how to:

1. Get ESG scores as of the M&A deal date (not current ratings)?
2. Link these historical ESG scores to the target companies identified in DSCREENER?

Would appreciate any pointers — whether it’s through Eikon Excel add-in, Datastream, or any other workaround.
