What does FERMI stand for / what is it named after?
brian.schuweiler
I know there is a physicist named Fermi (and an associated paradox concerning the existence of extraterrestrial life) - but I wondered if anyone knew how the name ended up being applied to our Search algorithm.

I believe it's just a code name, quite possibly with a nod to Enrico Fermi. It's definitely not an acronym. (Edit to add: I say this as one of the first few people in R&D to start working on it.)

I'm not sure where the name came from. R&D seems to have come up with it.
