North American Industry Classification System, pronounced "nakes". NAICS is used to classify companies, and is managed by the US government. There are a known number of levels in the taxonomy, and each company is classified to a node in the taxonomy. Companies self-assign their NAICS code, and is filed with the SEC. TRBC is the Thomson Reuters version of NAICS
