getting Datastream data using python

Dears,

I want to download financial and accounting data from Datastream using python. The data includes many variables and for many years. That is what called Panel data. The question is, how can I get the variables like total assets (WC02999) and sales (WC01001) for all firms like in the FTSE350 (UK) from 2010 to 2023. I extract using Excel but it is time consuming and I need many control variables.

I would be gratful if you guide me how to adress and get the data using python.

    Yes, you can use the Datastream Webservice with the Python library to retrieve the data. 

    df = ds.get_data(tickers="LFTSE350|L", fields=["NAME","WC02999","WC01001"], kind=0)
    
df.pivot(index='Instrument', columns='Datatype', values = 'Value')

    You can refer to this discussion to get data for previous years. You can apply the intruments and fields used in Excel to the Python code.
