CIAM authentication in UPA

Hi UPA team,

We are using UPA library for streaming in our application.

We have internal accounts created for connection as for example

GE-A-00975453-3-12761, GE-A-00975453-3-12762, etc

We need to know if the authentication will change in the future on UPA side with CIAM project .

Will you continue to provide AAA authentication?

If not, if we need to change to CIAM authentication will we need to create new accounts or the current accounts will be "migrated" ?

If you have some knowledge to share in order to plan the changes on our side it can be great.

Hello @Cornelia.Draculet

There is no plan to end support the Version 1 Authentication yet.

However, if you migrate to the Version 2 (CIAM), you will get the following benefits over Version 1:

  • Longer Access Token expiration time
  • The application/API does not need to renew an Access Token (HTTP/RSSL-WebSocket) as long as the streaming channel (WebSocket/RSSL) is active
  • Version 2 Authentication supports simultaneous login up to 5 concurrent
  • Support both Service ID account and JWT Public/Private key login types

If you need to migrate to Version 2 Authentication, you need the RTSDK 2.0.5.L1 (ETA 3.6.5.L1) and above.
