DSS provides REST API that supports HTTP requests and HTTP responses. The API can't throw any exceptions. I assume that the applcation got the HTTP status 500 and the following error message in the response.

Typically, the HTTP status 500 indicates the problem on the server.

500 Internal Server Error
The server has encountered a situation it does not know how to handle.

Please contact the DSS support team directly via MyAccount to verify what the problem is.
