InterfaceName in universal channel configuration list

There is a parameter called InterfaceName in universal channel entry parameters. (Please refer section 3.2.2 in EMAC302_ConfigurationGuide.pdf) Is this a required (compulsory)? What will happen if this is not setup in a machine with multiple network interfaces where consumer application is running?

It states in the EMA Configuration Guide that InterfaceName is for use in systems that have multiple network interface cards. If unspecified, the default network interface is used. Therefore it is optional.
