Refinitiv Real-Time Distribution System\Hub

Please help me understand:

I read various API documentation and visually do not understand the following:

What does the Refinitiv Real-Time Distribution System consist of?

Is there a diagram, picture or list of services?

2. What does Refinitiv Real-Time Distribution Hub consist of?

Is there a diagram or a picture?

Hi @manucharfinalsi

You can refer to the API Concepts Guide which talks about the ADS and ADH at a high level - which are the key components of RTDS - API Concepts Guide

The list of services will vary depending on the server you connect to - as the services are determined by your own internal Market data team. Typically the standard Refinitiv Real-Time feed is called ELEKTRON_DD - although this can be renamed by your internal Market Data team - who can advise best on what services are available on your RTDS.

Can you tell me the difference between:

1. standard Refinitiv Real-Time feed (ELEKTRON_DD) and Direct Exchange Feeds?

2. If Consumer contracts with Refinitiv for REFINITIV REAL TIME MANAGED DISTRIBUTION service, then Consumer receives real-time data under the scheme: 4.1 Exchange-Refinitiv Data Feed Direct-Consumer? or 4.2. Exchange-ADH-RRTDS Backbone-ADS-Consumer?

Hi @manucharfinalsi

A Direct feed is where Refinitiv can provide a feed direct from an exchange to the customer - as opposed to our consolidated feed where we collect data from all our supported exchanges and consolidate them into a single one. This consolidation process naturally adds some latency.
The location and connectivity of the direct feed device, consolidated feed server, RTDS installation can vary - depending on your requirements and locations.

If you require further information on feeds - direct or consolidated and RTDS, I recommend you reach out to your Refinitiv Account team - or use the Request Details option on the following page:

Hi @manucharfinalsi

ELEKTRON_DD is the service name we give to our Refinitiv Real-time consolidated feed which carries data for all the exchanges/venues that we support (some market data teams do rename this for their internal consumers).

As mentioned in section 4.5 of the above document, each Direct Feed will be specific to an exchange/venue - you can consume data from multiple direct feeds if required. The key difference is the much lower latency of a Direct Feed - for example, for algo-trading a customer may choose to use a Direct Feed over the consolidated.

RTDS is a data distribution system that allows an organization to distribute real-time streaming data to consumers within their organization - this can be the above consolidated Real-Time feed and/or Data Feed Directs - depending on what feed(s) the organization chooses to license from Refinitiv.

As you will note from diagram 23 (section 4.5) of the above document, a consumer can connect directly to the Direct Feed or via the ADS (an RTDS component). This ability/choice is determined by your internal market data team - depending on the requirements of the consumer application and is something you can discuss with them.

Did I understand your answer correctly?

Direct Feed is when Exchange Server, LSEG-Refinitiv Server, Customer Server are connected to each other via Cross-Connect

RTDS - is it when the Exchange Server in one room data center, LSEG-Refinitiv Server in the same city where the Exchange server, and Customer Server is either in the same city where the LSEG server, or in another city or even in another country?
