API AUTHENTICATION ISSUE

Below is the error message we received while doing API authorization:

401 {"error":"invalid_client" ,"error_description":"Invalid client or client credentials." }

We tried Auth v1 and v2 but didnt work, please help and let us know which endpoint/URL should we use. Thank you!

Are you using the Version 1 (Machine-ID, GE-A-XXXXXXXX-X-XXXX) or Version 2 (Client-ID, GE-XXXXXXXXXXXX) credential? You can check a different on this https://developers.lseg.com/en/article-catalog/article/account-authorization-v1-to-v2-migration-cheat-sheet article.

Please be informed that the Version 1 and Version 2 requires different credential and endpoint.

Version 1 Authentication

Use:

Machine-ID (GE-A-XXXXXXXX-X-XXXX format)
Password
App-Key (aka version 1 client id)

Endpoint: https://api.refinitiv.com:443/auth/oauth2/v1/token

POST /auth/oauth2/v1/token HTTP/1.1

Host: api.refinitiv.com:443

Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded

Content-Length: xxx

For V1, you can generate application keys from the AppKey Generator tool.

The error means your RDP username or password is invalid. Please contact your LSEG representative.

Does your username start with 'GE-A-'?

How did you send the request—using Postman or Python code? If your password contains special characters, you may need to use wildcards to handle them properly.

We use Python, our password dosent contains special characters, so wondering why got error here. We want to contribute datasets to Terminal, please help, thank you!
