Eikon limit examples

hi there

do we have templates for equities or some kind of warning so clients know they aren't getting near the Eikon API limits? Apparently Open AI are good at this, so you don't create a model and then it doesn't work due to limit breaches. many thanks

@Liz Wood Thanks for your question - so we provide limit guidance here for the Eikon Data API. However, there is no mechanism to warn customers when they are near reaching various throttling limits - as there are many as explained in the document. The document does provide some suggestions for dealing with situations both where a limit is actually breached or where a return is potentially truncated due to a data point limit breach etc.

I would also recommend that customers use our latest Refinitiv Data Libraries instead as they can actually provide much larger dataframes as they do iterative data gathering behind the scenes to form the return - so the customer doesn't have to handle this themselves. This alone is quite a useful feature - especially for longer timeseries histories etc.

Its also important to note that a model can contain multiple API calls - per call limits apply to one API call. There is also a daily limit of 10,000 API calls - but that is quite large.

Of course if customers are regularly running up against larger daily limits - its a sign they may need to scale to a more appropriate product designed for larger data consumption.

I hope this can help.
