Retrieve specific historical company guidance

Hi,

I am trying to get company historical revenue guidance for Quarters. I saw that some posts point to DIB to search, but all i am finding is the guidance for no of shares. This is what I am using to get revenue, but i am coming up on empty.

ek.get_data(['VMW'], ["TR.GuidanceLowValue", "TR.GuidanceLowValue.calcdate", \

"TR.GuidanceHighValue", "TR.GuidanceHighValue.calcdate"], \

{"SDate":"2020-01-01", "EDate":"2021-08-27", "Period":"FQ0", "Frq":"FQ"})

Thanks.

Hi @andrej.krneta

You can replace "calcdate" with "origdate"

Hi, @chavalit.jintamalit

I am using what you suggested with the following formula:

fields = ["TR.GuidanceLowValue", "TR.GuidanceLowValue.origdate"]

rev_guide_df, err = ek.get_data([Ticker], fields, \

{'GuidMeasure':'REV', "SDate":start_date, "EDate":end_date, "Period":"FQ1", "Frq":"FQ"})

The output comes out as different guidance for the same origination date. Not sure how this can be. If the company changed their guide it must have been on different dates. What am I missing here?

Hi, @chavalit.jintamalit

How do I get a timestamp with the "TR.RevenueActSurprise" field alone? If I add .origdate to the same field, as you suggested, it does not seem to work.

This is what I have:

Ticker = 'INTC.O'

start_date = '2010-01-01'

end_date = '2021-08-27'

fields = ["TR.RevenueActSurprise", 'R.RevenueActSurprise.origdate']

rev_guide_df, err = ek.get_data([Ticker], fields, \

{'GuidMeasure':'REV', "SDate":start_date, "EDate":end_date, "Period":"FQ1", "Frq":"FQ"})

But the date field returns empty values. I have two fields in the function call one for revenue surprise and the other for the date related to that reading. But, I am getting empty. appreciate the help.

Hi @andrej.krneta ,

for this field, please use .calcdate instead,

below is an example of the code

Ticker = 'INTC.O'
start_date = '2010-01-01'
end_date = '2021-08-27'
fields = ["TR.RevenueActSurprise", 'TR.RevenueActSurprise.calcdate']

rev_guide_df, err = ek.get_data([Ticker], fields, {'GuidMeasure':'REV', "SDate":start_date, "EDate":end_date, "Period":"FQ1", "Frq":"FQ"})
rev_guide_df

Plus, below is how you can check which one can be used using DIB (check in Output dropdown list)
