Mining business development research

I am starting to conduct some mining business development research. Is using the excel add-in the most efficient tool for this? Is there a page or link where I can find some further information on how to make this research as efficient as possible? I essentially want a workbook breaking down the mining operations in Australia and Internationally and then where possible, key management (corporate and operational level), mining phase (development/production/exploration), and if it can be done determining the number of drilling rigs or equipment on the operation. Any advice on where to start would be much appreciated.

@Scallywagon So a programmatic approach might serve you better. You can try in our Codebook app - which is our hosted python notebook experience (type Codebk into the Eikon/Workspace search bar). With a few lines of code you can achieve a selection of mines by commodity for any region and even visualise them on a map:

mines_coordinates = mines.search(commodity="Gold", region="Australia")

PhysicalAssetsMap().plot(mines_coordinates).show()
display(mines_coordinates)

Once you have the physical asset RICs you can request all sorts of other information such as mine operating status, capacity etc. You can find out all the fields available using the Data Item Browser app (type DIB into Eikon/Workspace search bar) selecting Commodities Physical Assets category:

You can then just plug those fields into a regular get_data request - see example Examples/01. Data Retrieval and Discovery/01.01. LSEG Data Library/Access__Get_Data.ipynb
