Need help on how to link Workspace with power BI

I am trying to use the API method with Python. The issue is that due to company restrictions I only have access to the PyCharm environment, which complicates things as all guides seem to be using Jupyter or similar environments (with syntax that isn’t recognized by PyCharm)

The first hurdle is to install the Refinitiv data library in python (step 3 in guide below).

Do you know how this can be solved? Any workarounds?

Or is there a way to skip the python environment and enter the python code directly into the PowerBI Python environment.

The suggested Python library is the https://developers.lseg.com/en/api-catalog/lseg-data-platform/lseg-data-library-for-python (aka Data Library version 2). If you already have Python installed on your machine, you can install the library with the following command:

pip install lseg-data

Or if you are in the control proxy environment (like ZScaler)

pip install --trusted-host pypi.python.org --trusted-host files.pythonhosted.org --trusted-host pypi.org lseg-data

Please be informed that you need the PyCharm Professional Edition to run the Jupyter Notebook files (see this https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/editions/ page).

Thank you, my issue is that i can only access PyCharm Community Edition.

I am struggling with the pip install as PyCharm is giving me the following syntax error.

I have tried the following:

import pip
pip.main(['install', 'refinitiv-data'])

But then i get these warnings/errors:

When exchanging refinitiv-data with lseg-data, i get the following result:

import pip
pip.main(['install', 'lseg-data'])

Please note that I cant access Conda/Anaconda either.

I wonder if there are any workarounds?

I am not sure if the client had read the https://developers.lseg.com/en/article-catalog/article/how-to-set-up-python-development-project-with-pycharm article.

The client can install the Python library using PyCharm UI as follows:

Open the Python Package tool window available at the bottom of the screen as follows:

Next, input "lseg-data" in the package search bar and select the lseg-data on the PyPI, and click the "Install with pip" button.

About the proxy issue, the client can find a detail about how to set HTTP Proxy with PyCharm from this https://www.jetbrains.com/help/pycharm/settings-http-proxy.html page. The client needs to contact their local IT support to help with the Proxy.

About the example code, the client can copy the Python code from the Jupyuter notebook examples cells on https://github.com/LSEG-API-Samples/Example.DataLibrary.Python to run as a standalone py file with PyCharm.

If the client needs to run Jupyuter notebook on PyCharm, the client needs to buy the Professional Edition ( https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/buy/?section=commercial&billing=yearly)
