Connect to Power Bi with which Eikon API?

Hi,

we would like to create a reporting for our portfolio via Microsoft Power BI. We can build an interface, but we have some challenges there. Our Power BI is running on a virtual machine via Microsoft Azure. Our lizenz is running on a local machine in our office. I see three typs of APIs? Whats the difference between Eikon Data API, Side by Side API and EDP API? Can something solve our problem that we have no installation on Microsoft Azure?

Thx in advance.

Hi @k-erdi

Eikon is a Desktop application and is licenced for Desktop usage only.

Any scripts, etc., you run - regardless of which API you use - can only be run on the same local PC/virtual PC as where the Eikon is installed and running. You can't execute any API code on a remote device/azure and connect to an Eikon installation elsewhere.

Hi @k-erdi

If you want to execute scripts in a virtual environment or somewhere other than where Eikon is installed, then you should consider our non-desktop Refinitiv Data Platform APis.

Much (but not all) of the data available in Eikon is accessible via the Refinitiv Data Platform APIs (RDP). The RDP APIs are cloud-based and do not rely on any local installation as is the case with Eikon + Eikon APIs.

We also provide Python, .NET (and soon Typescript) ease of use libraries for accessing the RDP APIs.

Please speak to your Refintiiv Account team for further details on RDP APIs licensing.
